Be a part of the textile circular economy with our recycled wool yarn, on cones for machine knitting.
This yarn is made by a recycling specialist spinner in Yorkshire, UK. Made from old jumpers sourced as post-consumer waste, from a 25 miles radius from their factory. The wool is sorted into eight shades, so even the colours are recycled! This gives a tweed effect with flecks of different colours without the need to re-dye.
The yarn contains 97% wool and 3% other fibres (including for example linking threads from the old jumpers). 80% is recycled material with 20% new wool to stabilise the fibres in the spinning process, which is required because shredding the old garments shortens the fibres.
This is one of our thickest wools, so would need to be knitted on a looser tension on a standard domestic or on a chunky industrial machine. Its tweed-like appearance lends itself to outerwear and accessories like hats, gloves and scarfs.
