Terms & Conditions

1.      Colour
We take care that our photographs show the yarn colours well but each device displays colours differently. Apple products like iPhone display colours more accurately than PCs but even on different iPhones, the same colour can look a bit different.

If you are unsure of a colour, it is best to come into the shop to see the yarn in person.

If the colours are described as Stock Service, this means that each colour is available on an ongoing basis. The mills continue producing these colours year after year, so we can consistently supply these colours, although occasionally a mill may discontinue a colour for technical reasons.

If the yarns are described as having Seasonal Colours, the mills update their colour range for each autumn/winter and spring/summer collection. This means colours and yarn composition may change every year, so stock up on a yarn you need for a project because we can not guarantee we will be able to supply it at a later date.

All our yarns are of the highest quality so the colour between batches will be relatively consistent. But due to the nature of the dying process, there may be a slight colour variation between dye batches. If you order more than one cone of a particular colour, we will endeavour to send cones from the same dye batch, but if you reorder at a later date, there is a chance this may be from a different batch.

2.      Weights
We wind yarns onto cones by their length. But different colours of the same yarn can weigh slightly different amounts. Bleaching the yarn removes a bit of material so they yarn weigh less. A deep colour dye might make it weigh a bit more. So the weights listed are indicative only, and subject to a bit of variation by colour.

3.      Opening Hours
Our opening hours for instore purchases and machine hire are listed on our home page. Hours may change e.g. for holidays. Classes may be held while the shop is shut.

4.      Studio Etiquette
The studio is a shared space and also shop, so we ask that chatting and using phones is kept to a minimum as to not disrupt others working. If a call is to be made or taken, please do so outside.

Assistance dogs are welcome. Pets are not permitted though because they present a health and safety hazard in the presence of machines.

You may bring children into the shop provided you make sure they do not go near any machines, or touch or knock over any of the stock.

5.      Dispatching Deliveries
We dispatch orders from Monday to Friday. If you place an order on a Saturday or Sunday, the soonest it will be dispatches would be Monday.

We use Royal Mail Tracked 48 for deliveries. You will receive an email from Royal Mail with the tracking details for your parcel.

If you want your order sooner than this, you can select Store Pickup, or either collect it when it is ready, or send your own courier to fetch it, during the shop’s opening hours.

6.      Contacting us
Please contact us by email, at info@knitworkslondon.com
Please do not contact us on Facebook or Instagram because it is not possible to keep track of these messages.

We are often teaching classes and processing orders but will respond to your email as soon as we can, generally on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Fridays.

7.      Returns
You may return goods you are unsatisfied with for an exchange, a credit note in the form of a Gift Certificate, or a refund.

You must let us know within 14 days of receiving your order that you would like to return any items, and we must receive the goods back within 14 days of that. The simplest way is to return the goods to us and fill in the Returns Form enclosed with your order. We will process your return within 14 days of receiving the goods back.

Please note that you must pay for the postage to return the goods to us yourself. We recommend getting a Proof of Postage when you send the goods back, as a record of your having returned them.

If you would like to exchange a yarn for another colour, we will post this to you at our expense, but we will only do this once per purchase. If you are unsatisfied with the second colour, return it to us within 14 days, and we will process a refund.

If you return the whole of an order to us and would like a refund, we will refund the cost including the Postage and Packaging you were charged when you bought them. We will NOT refund you for the cost of your having sent them back to us.

If you would like to keep some of the yarns in an order, but return others for a refund, we will only refund the price of the yarns, and not the cost of the Postage & Packaging.

We must receive the goods back in an unused, saleable condition. Please wrap and package the yarns carefully to ensure they reach us undamaged. We weigh yarns we receive back and can not accept returns when you have used some of the yarn.

We package our yarns carefully to ensure they reach you undamaged. If they do arrive damaged, please let us know using the returns form, as above.

You may return goods within 30 days if they are faulty. All our yarns are designed for machine knitting and have been tested by ourselves. If you are struggling to knit with any of the yarns, please check out our instructional videos. A lack of skill on the part of the knitter does not mean that the yarn itself is faulty.

We are an independent business and returns cost us money. If we feel that you are abusing our returns policy, we may cancel orders from you in the future.

8.      Machine Hire
All bookings must be made online. If you book at the Student Rate, please bring your valid student card into the studio.

To book machines, you must be efficient and able to work independently and safely when using the machine. There will be a technician on hand show you the equipment and the relevant tools, and to address any problems with the machine. However this does not include tuition, i.e. machine hire does not include someone showing you techniques and processes.

If you require technical tuition, please email info@knitworkslondon.com to arrange this separately.

Knitting machines are big, complex pieces of equipment, with sharp needles and heavy weight. When booking, you must accept any risk of injury when using them.

If you need to cancel or change the dates of your booking, amend your booking online, at least seven days in advance. After this we are unable to offer changes or refunds.

9. Classes
All classes must be booked online.

Beginners classes are for everybody. Please note though that knitting machines require you to work with your hands, and moving the carriage requires some strength and mobility. If you have difficulty holding tools or have limited movement in your arms, please watch some videos of machine knitting to see if you think you would be able.

To book Intermediate class you need to have mastered the skills taught in the Beginners workshops. To book and Advanced class you need to be an experienced machine knitter.

If you need to change or cancel your booking for any reason, I ask that you let me know at least 7 days before. After that time, changes or refunds are unable to be made, since we will not have enough time to re-sell the class, and as an independent business it is not viable for us to give last minute cancellations. You are welcome to send a friend in your place though, just drop us an email before hand to let us know.

Please arrive at least 5-10 minutes before the class starts, so everyone can get settled and start promptly. Arriving late to group classes disrupts the class and you will miss vital information at the start, so we reserve the right to turn you away if you are too late, and you will have to rebook a new class.
