Maintenance Class: Machine Care

How to look after your knitting machine. Whether you’re an absolute beginner or a skilled professional, the knitting machine maintenance class will teach you the basics of looking after your own machine. This class requires no previous knowledge of knitting machinery.

You will gain an understanding of how to care for, clean and oil your knitting machine. Plus, plenty of tips and tricks for when your machine gets jammed, stiff or noisy.

You will learn:

• How to set up your machine correctly
• Removing and inspecting the sponge bar
• Changing needles
• Removing yarn from the brushes and sinker plate
• Removing fluff from the tension mast
• Oiling the needles and carriage
• Unjamming/removing the carriage
• Carriage inspection
• Safely removing the casing
• Cleaning the machine

The machines used on the course will be brother knitting machines. All equipment will be provided, along with technical notes with instructions to go with your class.
