Come with me to see Knit Works London’s range of viscose yarns for machine knitting.
We’ve talked about our wools and cottons in previous videos, here are our viscose yarns. Viscose is the original artificial silk, made from plants.
But its slipperiness makes it hard to knit with. So we have this yarn specially made for us, knitted into a 3mm wide tape. It’s much easier to use on a knitting machine. Hand knitters and crocheters enjoy it too.
It’s one of our chunkier yarns, suitable for 3 to 5 gauge industrials and standard gauge domestics.
It makes a dense, heavy fabric once knitted, with a wonderful drape and sheen, really expensive looking with a swing in its movement. With ladders and fringing you can expose the tape structure to its full effect.
Also great for eveningwear is our Sparkle Yarn, a viscose and lurex chain. This combines the silkiness of viscose with sparkly, metallic lurex, chained together to make it easier to knit with.
A wearable yarn with a flash of glitter, in a range of sophisticated colours.
An alternative is our sequin yarn. A matte viscose base with a little spandex stretch, with 2mm wide iridescent mirrored sequins strung along its length – like little compact discs if you can remember them. And it goes through the knitting machine! A real wow factor with this one.
Viscose dyes well with an intense depth of colour, which suits chenille. This Chenille yarn is from one of Italy’s most innovative mills, and knits into a velvet-like fabric.
