Come and see knit works london’s range of silk yarns for machine knitting. We’ve talked about our cottons, wools and viscose in previous videos, here are our silks. The finest of fabrics for thousands of years, silk is the apotheosis of luxury.
Named for Italy’s lake Como, our silk como yarn is the thickest of our silks, suitable for 3-5 gauge industrials and standard gauge domestics. Pure mulberry silk, known for its shine, drape, and expensive look. It dyes beautifully and we have a wonderful range of strong colours.
The prefect yarn for knitted eveningwear, dresses, scarfs and shawls; garments with a flowing movement and shimmer that comes only from silk.
We also have a fine silk yarn for 10 – 14 gauge knitting machines, suitable for the finest silk jersey weights. Tshirts, eveningwear, nightwear, knitted in silk will look expensive.
We also have a silk steel yarn, from a Japanese maker who specialise in unusual materials and their tactile experience. It’s a filament of stainless steal, with a dyed silk wrapped around it. It can be folded and shaped once knitted, with crumples, creases and pleats, which hold their shape but are wrapped in the softness and shine of silk.
All of these are available in store and online at knitworkslondon.com
