Garment making

This is a 4 day course and is often held in the summer months. It is designed for learners to learn a number of techniques and processes used in machine knitting a full garments.

You will learn a number of advanced level techniques:

  • DRAFTING A PAPER PATTERN
  • TENSION SWATCHES
  • NECKLINES
  • TRIMS & EDGES
  • POCKETS AND BUTTON HOLES
  • LINKING & SEWING

You will create a range of samples and a constructed garment (fully or partially completed) to take away with you, making you fully equipped to complete your own knitted garments.

For the Garment making course, learners need to have attended the Beginners class, and a number of the Intermediate, Advanced or Accessory making classes or have sufficient knowledge in using the knitting machine, its operations and want to learn more.

The machines used on the course can either be Brother knitting machines or Dubied industrial knitting machines. All equipment and yarns will be provided.
