Beginner (the basics)

Whether you’re an absolute beginner or looking to refresh your skills, the Beginner Class will give you a firm grounding in the basics of machine knitting. Beginner Classes require no previous knowledge of knitwear or knitting machinery.

You’ll gain an understanding of how the machine works and what it can do, with plenty of time to practise and experiment.

You will learn:

  • CASTING ON
  • STRIPES
  • INCREASING & DECREASING (changing the width of the knitted fabric)
  • LACE HOLES
  • LADDERS
  • CASTING OFF

You’ll create a range of samples to take away and learn from. Also, depending on your progress, you will be given the opportunity to knit yourself a scarf or snood at the end of the session.

The machines used on the course will be Brother knitting machines. All equipment and yarns will be provided, along with technical notes with instructions to go with your class.
